This article is all about how to create and sell your own t-shirts through your own blog/website with very little experience. I decided to write this to one document what I did in case I have to do it again, and two to help you get your t’shirts produced as I did with some help from Printful.
I hesitated to create T-shirts for about 2 years, it just seems like a lot of work and it seemed very technical with designing the shirts and then worry about how to get them sold and shipped. This process was so intimating to me. I was interested in a few different platforms before I settled on Printful. After, I decided to move forward with the idea, it still took me a year to read about all of the different companies like Shopify, Teespring, etc. to figure out what I wanted to use. In this article, I include the steps that I took to help me get my shirts designed and on sale through my personal website.
Step 1. Design your logo and your t-shirt images. For Printful, it’s best if you already have your design images saved and created before beginning your work in Prinful’s website. I don’t have a design background, so I did get some help with a graphic design artist. The logo was a nice touch because Printful allows you to have your logo on the interior of your t-shirt.
Step 2. Setup an account with Printful. You can do this by simply logging into the Printful website. Printful is very helpful in this whole process and quickly answer emails when you have questions about setup and connecting your site. I would suggest ordering a few samples that you might like to use before placing on your site. Initially, it took almost a month for my samples to arrive, but I was pleased when my order finally did arrive. My second order of samples arrived much quicker, probably only took a week and a half.
Step 3. I have a WordPress site, so it was important for me to have the WooCommerce integration. I already had WooCommerce as a plugin added, but you can add it if you don’t already have the plugin.
Step 4. The WooCommerce plugin and the Printful plugin integrate directly.
Step 5. The next step is to create the store on your WordPress site. You can probably complete this step earlier, but this is just the order in which I completed my setup process. It’s fairly simple, you would create the store page and call it whatever you like, and then go to the WooCommerce settings and set that page as the Shop page.
And it’s just that easy to do, after this your customers can simply go to your Shop and order as many shirts as you want. You can contact Printful and get started on your shirts now by clicking my link….what are you waiting for?
