Of all of the birthday parties that I have had for my son, this party was by far the most simple and most fun for me 🙂
As you can probably tell, I don’t have a lot of free time. This September was especially hectic with my son’s birthday arriving right after the start of the new school year. I really had no creative ideas for his birthday party. I knew I didn’t have the energy to prepare my home for a party nor did I trust the weather enough to plan an outdoor event. I decided to ultimately just invite family to Six Flags over Maryland, which is about 15 minutes from my house. We also decided to get a cake and order small food items for our guests from Popeyes Louisiana Style Chicken upon our return from the park. Most of the guests were adults and didn’t really want to spend the day at the park as the weather was pretty warm. My son and other small guests ate at Johnny Rockets in the park.
This idea was very simple and didn’t require much planning at all. The tickets were cheap, we mostly used buddy passes for $9.99 which are available for use with a season pass, and most of our guests had season passes.
We enjoyed the cake at my cousin’s place and opened gifts there, too, as the park is close to her neighborhood. This year’s theme was fun because we went with a Super Mario Bros theme for the cake and décor and my son’s gifts were centered around him receiving his first game system, the Nintendo Switch system and a few games.
