Everyone wants a beautiful smile for as less money and effort as possible. This article is a nice, clear cut review of the Six Month Smiles braces system. When I originally became interested in Six Month Smiles, I was only able to read reviews of people’s experience through the Six Month Smiles website. I decided I wanted to give people like myself an honest review that they can use when considering their options for fixing their smile.
I have actually had traditional metal braces when I was a teen and also, I tried Invisalign a few years back as an adult so I can compare Six Month Smiles to each of these products.
The thing that attracted me most to Six Months Smiles was the timeframe for correction. I had traditional metal braces for over 4 years, so I felt that I had done my share of time with this type of treatment and didn’t want to commit to such a long period of time again. Six Month Smiles offers to fix your teeth in 6 months or less. This offer can be made because Six Month Smiles only focuses on fixing cosmetic issues. If you have an issue with your bite you need to work with an orthodontist. I had already had my bite fixed and was dealing with minor teeth shifting in the front. It’s important to know that Six Month Smiles can often take 7-8 months to fix teeth, so you should definitely consider this possible time frame when making a decision, in case your working against a deadline like a wedding or other important life event.
The other thing that attracted me to Six Month Smiles was the price. Traditional braces start at around $3,500 and Invisalign cost me $5,000. Six Month Smiles only costs a little under $2,000. Six Month Smiles is a winner in the price and treatment time categories. I love to save money, as you can probably tell from any of my other posts!
Okay, on to my review! In order to start treatment with your dentist, you have to have a mold done and after that it takes about 2 weeks to get your braces placed on your teeth. I got my braces on in July of 2020 and right away I felt that difference between the ceramic brackets, metal braces and Invisalign. The Six Month Smile brackets are definitely larger than traditional metal braces and you can feel that bulk in your mouth as these brackets are ceramic and less obvious to those around you. That being said the brackets took a long time to get used to, much longer than traditional braces. It took me about 2 weeks for my mouth to get comfortable and still the first few times that I got them tightened I felt the brackets on the inside of my mouth leaving me a bit miserable for a few days. I used a lot of wax dots to help smooth the sharpness of the brackets. I also had my brackets break off quite a bit and I had to make several trips to the dentist to have them replaced, something that never happened when I had traditional braces. I realized that I had to be super careful about what I ate as these brackets were much bigger than I was used to and the ceramic nature of them caused the brackets to dislodge much easier.
I will say that the Six Month Smile braces were considerably less painful when the teeth moved than traditional braces and Invisalign. You can barely feel the soreness of your gums as the teeth moved.
It is now February 2021, and I am at the end of my treatment and am awaiting my retainers now, I opted for traditional retainers as I think they will last longer than the trays. My treatment took 7 months in total, I am pleased with the outcome. Six Month Smiles was definitely a sacrifice for half a year but considering the other options I think that it was worth it. Since, my treatment began I have seen on the Six Month Smiles website, that there is now an option to use trays instead of the ceramic brackets for treatment, overall, I probably would still choose the ceramic because I need to have one of my teeth pivot in a way that sometimes trays just cannot achieve.
Hope this was helpful. I would love to hear about your Six Month Smiles experience.
